One of my favorite things about writing Alistair was discovering the traditional language of flowers.

Flowers aren’t merely beautiful to him. They’re words.

Bluebells.

Camellias.

Jasmine.

Ranunculus.

Roses—although Alistair has opinions about roses.

Every flower can mean something.

An apology.

Desire.

Devotion.

Constancy.

I choose you.

I’m staying.

I love you.

And somewhere along the way, Ryan learns to speak Alistair’s language.

Maybe that’s what this book is really about.

Not finding someone who loves the version of you that you show the world.
